As the sun began to set over Dunham Massey, twenty seven Scout Network members from across the County descended upon Dunham Park Scout Campsite for the first AMUSING Network camp.
Friday 17th October 2008 saw Scout Network celebrate Wilkinson’s Spatula Day, and campers at Dunham Park were no exception as spatulas formed a major part of silly games that evening, with activities including spatula and duck races and decorating spatulas.
Other activities across the weekend involved Network members playing dodgeball and volleyball, participating in archery, using Wild Slings (catapults that can fire water balloons for miles – almost), a wide game and generally chilling out.
Scout Network members from 1st High Lane Network, North Manchester Network and Manchester South Network, attended this year’s event, and all mingled well together creating a great atmosphere!
Months of preparation had gone into the organising and promotion of the event since the idea was born at a County Scout Network planning meeting earlier in the year. The core organising team would like to thank everyone who turned up and enjoyed themselves making AMUSING such fun.
A big thank you must go to all the volunteer staff at Dunham Massey for their support and for providing such nice (if slightly cold) weather, and to Keith Frazer, for his ongoing support of the Network Section.
Preparations for the second County Network Camp are slowly getting underway, as we hope to make it bigger and better. The date is provisionally set as the 9th - 11th October 2009. So keep an eye out for more details.
